I only needed two new pieces to complete today’s translation. The first is an adjectival form of fíke “to freeze” (a verb I already had), using a quality derivation (which I also already had): vófike means “frozen”.
I also needed a word for “to grate” and decided to make it a compound from the verbs “to rub” and “to cut”. While téke “to cut” was already in my dictionary, I needed to create a new root for “to rub”, and I chose ‘ú for that form (its proto-form is *kux, and it left me with a delightfully short modern form). Put together, ‘útteke means “to grate”.
