Àlúpéŋákkaìáákuŋktòŋmémfiwe. “Press and seal edge with a fork.”
Today’s Lexember entry includes a few words already existing in the language, such as lú “edge” and ŋákka “to press” (yes, I see now that the little accent mark over the first “a” is missing in the image above!).
I needed a verb meaning “to seal”, so I added the intensifier verbal suffix to the verb ááke “to close, to shut” to create áákuŋo “to seal”.
I also needed a word meaning “fork”, which I decided would not be basic but would be a later addition to their vocabulary (and regular eating habits). I started with méme “branch” and added the diminutive to create mémfi “tine” (or “prong”). Adding the collective to that leads to mémfiwe “fork”, or a collection of tines.
