Goal: Update your dictionary

Note: Include your new pronouns.

Tip: Focus on entering the main forms.

Work focus: Solidify/Write/Share

To wrap up the focus on personal pronouns (there are other pronoun forms to come…), today’s task is to update your dictionary, adding entries for your new pronoun forms. If you have already done that, congratulations! You have a day to expand your language in other ways. If you’re like me, though, and have a pile of notes and all the beautiful tables without a single dictionary being made, then use today to enter those forms.

If you have a lot of different forms based on inflections, my advice is to make one main entry with any irregular or otherwise unpredictable forms mentioned specifically in the entry. For instance, you might create an entry something like this:

kwa [kwa] *koha (pron.) second-person plural pronoun (kot [acc.], kore [gen.])

This entry includes the accusative and genitive forms within the definition headed by kwa, which is the unmarked pronoun used to indicate “you (pl.)” or “y’all”. That means a single entry can provide all the information you need for one series of pronouns rather than needing to create multiple entries, each specifically indicating a single inflected form of a pronoun.
